A pedestrian has died following a collision involving several vehicles, including a police car, on the A40 in Carmarthen. Dyfed-Powys Police officers were responding to concerns for the safety of a person on the road between the PC World roundabout and Abergwili roundabout on Tuesday.

Reports indicate that as officers arrived at approximately 21:50 BST, the pedestrian had been struck by multiple vehicles, including a marked police car. The force described the incident as a "six-vehicle" crash.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Dyfed-Powys Police has referred itself to the Independent Office of Police Conduct. Inquiries are underway to identify the pedestrian and their next of kin.

Both carriageways of the A40 were expected to remain closed for a significant period while officers continued their work at the scene.
