Chris Matterface, 54, from Pelsall, near Walsall, has secured a place in the semi-finals of the BBC programme Mastermind. He appeared on the show with 2000 AD comics from the 1980s and 90s as his specialist subject.
Mr Matterface achieved 23 points, allowing him to progress to the next round. He stated that his semi-final subject will be popular music-based, but did not reveal the exact topic. The semi-final is scheduled to be filmed soon and will be broadcast on BBC1 and BBC iPlayer at a later date.
The 2000 AD comics, which primarily feature science fiction stories, have been published weekly since 1977, with the exception of the Christmas period.
