Alexandre Voisine has won the Beachy Head time trial for the second year in a row. The penny farthing racer competed in the event on Sunday, which involved 40 participants.
The three-mile course on public roads in East Sussex runs from Eastbourne to the summit of Beachy Head cliff. Matthew Trott, event organiser and Secretary of Eastbourne Bicycle Club 1877, noted that riders travelled from as far as Switzerland, Germany, and the USA.
Mr Trott described the 162m (530ft) climb as being "just on that limit" for penny farthings, which lack gears. The event has been running for nine years, growing from five riders to attracting crowds in recent years.
