The discussion began with the Prime Minister acknowledging the friendship between the UK and Finland, citing the recent commissioning of the first Finnish cadet from Sandhurst as an example of their close ties.
Both leaders agreed on the vital importance of continuing to support President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people against Russia’s full-scale invasion. The Prime Minister also reiterated the UK’s enduring commitment to NATO, noting Finland's key role within the alliance.
The leaders discussed the need to remain vigilant regarding the threat posed by Russia, including through the work of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF). The Prime Minister also outlined his commitment to strengthening the UK’s relations with the EU, with both leaders agreeing to maintain close contact as this work progresses.
