Sebastien Pocognoli's tenure as Scotland head coach began with a goalless draw against Slovenia in Ljubljana. The 39-year-old Belgian, who succeeded Steve Clarke in August, saw his side play out a 0-0 stalemate in their Nations League Group B1 opener at the Stozice Stadium.
Scotland's performance improved in the second half, creating several opportunities. Oli McBurnie, making his first international appearance in five years, and substitute Kieron Bowie both squandered good chances against Slovenia captain and goalkeeper Jan Oblak.
Two new faces, Swansea defender Steven Welsh and Sevilla striker Robbie Ure, were handed debuts in Pocognoli's inaugural team selection. Scotland will next host Switzerland at Hampden on Tuesday, followed by an away match against North Macedonia, before facing Slovenia again in Glasgow.
