Metropolitan Police are appealing for public assistance to identify a man who seriously assaulted another individual outside Alexandra Palace following a World Darts Championship match last December. The victim, who is in his twenties, was punched and knocked unconscious, sustaining significant injuries from which he is still recovering more than seven months later.
The incident occurred on 13 December 2025, when the victim was leaving the north London venue at approximately 4:30 PM GMT. He reportedly became involved in an argument with a group of men, some of whom were dressed in distinctive lobster costumes, a common sight at the festive darts tournament. Security staff initially intervened to separate the parties.
However, the victim encountered the same group again shortly afterwards on the venue's concourse. It was during this second confrontation that one of the men punched him, causing him to lose consciousness. The victim later reported the assault to the Met Police, prompting an ongoing investigation.
Detective Constable Lizzie Coster, who is leading the inquiry, expressed her sympathy for the victim's ongoing recovery. She highlighted the unusual circumstances of the assault, noting the suspect's 'distinctive costume' and the high-profile nature of the sporting event. The Met Police have released a CCTV image of the suspect, hoping it will prompt memories among attendees or anyone else present in the area at the time.
The World Darts Championship, held annually at Alexandra Palace, is known for its vibrant atmosphere and often sees fans attending in a variety of fancy dress costumes. Police are urging anyone with information, no matter how minor, to come forward to assist in identifying the assailant and bringing closure to the victim.
