Derbyshire police are investigating an alleged assault in connection with the arrest of Durham fast bowler Brydon Carse last weekend. The incident led to Carse being dropped from the England squad for the second Test against Pakistan.
Police confirmed on Wednesday that they are investigating allegations of assault in Derby city centre. No arrests have been made in connection with these allegations, and the investigation is ongoing.
Carse was filmed in handcuffs outside Molly Malone’s Irish Tavern in Derby in the early hours of Sunday morning. Derbyshire police had previously stated on Monday that Carse was briefly detained on suspicion of "being drunk and disorderly" before being "de-arrested."
It is currently unclear whether Carse was involved in the alleged assault. England Test captain Joe Root expressed his disappointment regarding the incident, stating he was "hacked off" by Carse's arrest.
