Scotland Yard has revealed that technological advances are allowing police to review old CCTV footage in the unsolved murder of BBC broadcaster Jill Dando. Detectives are re-examining 27-year-old footage from Putney Bridge Underground station, which is about a mile from Dando's home.
A Met spokesperson stated that the review of CCTV footage is part of ongoing inquiries and should not be interpreted as a significant new line of inquiry or a new investigation. The investigation into Dando's murder has been subject to numerous reviews over the past 27 years, aiming to identify whether progress could be made with technological and forensic advancements.
Jill Dando, a former Crimewatch presenter, was 37 years old when she was shot and killed outside her home in Fulham, west London, on 26 April 1999. An unidentified person, referred to as “Man X”, was captured on camera near Putney Bridge station shortly after the attack.
