Australian adults can now access Pornhub again, following the implementation of age-checking features on Apple devices. Aylo, Pornhub's parent company, had previously blocked Australian users in March 2026 in response to online safety codes that mandated adult websites verify users were 18 or older.
Aylo stated at the time that the age verification requirements would not adequately protect minors and could pose data privacy risks. However, Aylo's vice-president for brand and community, Alex Kekesi, confirmed on Wednesday that Pornhub would return to Australia now that Apple has introduced device-level age-checking in iOS.
Apple's new age checks were rolled out in Australia last month, following an earlier launch in the UK. These checks allow users to confirm their age using a credit card, by scanning a passport, driver's licence, or government ID. For existing Apple account holders, the company can verify age through credit cards on file or by assessing the account's duration.
Kekesi praised Apple's approach, describing it as a benchmark for child safety by automatically enabling features for unverified users. Aylo will restore access to Australian users who have completed Apple's age-verification process.
In the UK, the media regulator Ofcom is investigating whether minors can still access Pornhub despite the age-check rollout, expressing concerns that Aylo may not have conducted sufficient due diligence. Aylo has stated it will cooperate with the investigation and considers Apple's method to be robust.
