A pregnant Palestinian woman, Iman Shalouf, 27, died on Saturday from injuries sustained after being shot in the head by Israeli forces south of Khan Younis. Her family and medical workers stated she was nearly eight months pregnant and was sitting inside her family’s tent in the al-Mawasi area when she was struck by gunfire.
Shalouf was taken to Nasser hospital, where her unborn baby's heartbeat was initially detected, but both she and the baby died hours later. Her husband, Ismail abu Mashi, questioned the existence of a ceasefire, stating, "There is killing every day. People are dying here every day."
The incident occurred amidst broader violence, with the health ministry in Gaza reporting 10 Palestinians killed and 56 wounded in Israeli attacks over the previous 48 hours. These attacks involved artillery shelling and gunfire in various areas of northern, central, and southern Gaza.
Among those killed were four members of the same family – Momen Ahmed, his wife Haneen Saleh, and their daughters Lana, 12, and Bana, eight – when their home in Beit Lahiya was struck on Thursday night. Six other Palestinians were reportedly killed in Khan Younis and Gaza City on Friday.
The Israel Defense Forces stated they were investigating the incident involving Iman Shalouf when contacted by the Guardian. The health ministry in Gaza reports that 1,369 Palestinians have been killed and 4,627 wounded since the ceasefire took effect on 11 October 2025.
