Professional organisers share tips for a tidy home

Professional organisers and declutterers have offered advice on streamlining household items, from toy storage to wardrobe hangers.

  • Tips include creating a 'donation station' for items no longer needed.
  • Experts recommend stacking food storage containers with lids on or using nesting systems.
  • For wardrobes, slimline, non-slip rubberised hangers are suggested to maximise space.

Professional organisers and declutterers have provided tips and product recommendations to help streamline various areas of the home. Suggestions include setting up a 'donation station' to gather items for charity shops, as advised by Lesley Spellman of the Declutter Hub.

For kitchen organisation, Simon Wigzell, founder of Let's Get It Sorted, suggests stacking food storage containers with their lids on. Vicky Silverthorn, founder of You Need A Vicky, also stores containers with lids on, or recommends Joseph Joseph's nesting system.

Other advice covers toy storage, with one parent using fabric baskets for categorisation. Lucy Mansey, founder of Organised by Lucy, encourages children to identify items they are willing to let go of. Silverthorn also recommends using slimline, non-slip rubberised hangers to maximise wardrobe space and protect garment shapes.
