Estate agents and other property professionals are being encouraged to start preparing for significant changes to the home-moving process. This call comes from industry leaders who spoke during a webinar hosted by LMS’s National Property Transaction Network (NPTN).
The webinar followed the government's home buying and selling reform roadmap, which outlines plans for increased use of upfront property information, digital sales packs, and logbooks. The roadmap also aims to improve data sharing across transactions.
Panellists at the event argued that property businesses can begin changing their processes now and should participate in industry trials and consultations. This early involvement could help shape how future requirements are implemented in practice.
The government intends to identify sales pack information that firms can provide voluntarily, with subsequent plans to introduce legislation requiring sales packs before properties are marketed by agents. Digital property logbooks and sales packs are also planned to become standard features of transactions.
