The Industrial Injuries Advisory Council (IIAC) has announced a public meeting to be held in Manchester on Thursday 22 October 2026. The meeting, scheduled from 2pm to 5pm at The Midland Hotel, 16 Peter Street, Manchester, aims to inform the public about the council's work.
The event will include an explanation of the council's role in advising ministers on the Industrial Injuries Scheme, presentations on its work over the past year, and updates on current research. There will also be a question and answer session with council members and officials, and an opportunity for attendees to contribute views on future work.
The IIAC is an independent statutory body that advises the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions and the Department for Communities in Northern Ireland on matters related to the Industrial Injuries Scheme. This includes recommendations on which diseases and occupations should be prescribed for compensation. Those wishing to attend or submit questions in advance should email iiac@dwp.gov.uk by Thursday 15 October 2026.
