A 16-year-old pupil has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in a youth detention centre after stabbing a teacher in the head with a kitchen knife at Milford Haven Comprehensive School, Pembrokeshire.
The incident occurred on 5 February when the boy followed teacher Vicki Williams into an empty classroom after asking for help with his work. He then pulled a knife from his bag and lunged at her, causing injuries to her head, back, and hands.
Following a trial in July, the pupil was found not guilty of attempted murder but guilty of wounding with intent. Judge Thomas stated on Thursday that there was a "significant degree of planning" in the attack.
Ms Williams, who will begin therapy for PTSD this week, expressed feelings of "sadness, anger and guilt" after the incident and stated she did not know if she would be able to return to work.
