West Ham were held to a 1-1 draw by QPR after goalkeeper Pierce Charles produced a stunning double save from a Jarrod Bowen penalty in stoppage time. This denied the Hammers the opportunity to claim the top spot in the Championship.

Bowen had previously equalised for West Ham, cancelling out a controversial first-half penalty scored by Nicolas Madsen for QPR. However, the West Ham captain's late spot-kick was saved by Charles, who then pushed the rebound from Arne Engels onto the crossbar.

Earlier in the match, West Ham were on the wrong end of a penalty decision when Tomas Soucek was penalised for fouling Paul Smyth, despite replays showing the challenge was outside the area and Soucek got the ball. With no VAR in the Championship, the decision stood, leading to bookings for West Ham coach Rui Pedro Silva and player Arne Engels.
