Former England winger Raheem Sterling is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty at Basingstoke magistrates court to dangerous driving and possession of nitrous oxide. The plea follows an incident that witnesses reportedly feared might kill someone.
Sterling is currently without a club. He was previously a target for Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel after the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital takeover, but Tuchel was sacked seven weeks after Sterling signed a five-year contract.
A collective decision was made at Chelsea in summer 2024 to sell Sterling, based on his personal life and ability to play in the team. He was told by manager Enzo Maresca that he was not part of his plans and was forced to train away from the first team.
