Rajiv Menon KC, a barrister described by former clients as experienced and highly respected, is facing contempt proceedings. His former clients, including Tariq Ali and Hillsborough family members Margaret Aspinall and Sue Roberts, have expressed deep shock regarding the situation.
The clients stated that they must have confidence that their lawyers can represent them fearlessly and independently. They believe the case risks undermining the fundamental relationship of trust and confidence between clients and their lawyers, which they say is essential for meaningful participation in the justice system.
They have called for the proceedings against Mr Menon to be dropped immediately.
