- Rangers captain Lawrence Shankland is expected to be out for up to four months with a hamstring tear.
- Shankland may need surgery for the injury, which is a recurrence of one he sustained last season at Hearts.
- The striker will miss Scottish Premiership, League Cup, and Scotland's Nations League matches.
Rangers captain Lawrence Shankland will be sidelined for up to four months after suffering a hamstring tear, with the possibility of surgery. Manager Derek McInnes confirmed the 31-year-old skipper's injury is a recurrence of one he sustained while at Hearts last season.
Shankland, who has scored four goals in 10 appearances for Rangers this term, came off early in Saturday's 1-0 league win against Motherwell. His absence means he will miss upcoming Scottish Premiership and League Cup fixtures, as well as Scotland's Nations League matches from late September through mid-November.
The injury comes at a challenging time for Rangers, as fellow striker Youssef Chermiti is also expected to be out for a lengthy period due to anterior cruciate ligament damage. This leaves manager McInnes without his two leading strikers.
Why this matters: The absence of Lawrence Shankland, alongside Youssef Chermiti, leaves Rangers without their two leading strikers, potentially impacting their goal-scoring capabilities in upcoming domestic and international fixtures.
