Rangers secured a late victory against St Mirren on Thursday, with Bojan Miovski scoring in stoppage time. This result maintains their momentum as they head into two significant matches against city rivals Celtic.
The win was crucial as Celtic also won their game against St Johnstone, meaning Rangers avoided falling seven points behind the reigning champions just six games into the season. Rangers have now won their last four home games and are unbeaten in five at Ibrox since a loss to Hibernian last month.
Manager Derek McInnes acknowledged areas for improvement despite the win, stating, "There are obviously loads we have to improve on, but we have to meanwhile keep winning and we have to keep improving if we are to achieve anything this season." The team has faced challenges with long-term injuries to strikers Youssef Chermiti and Lawrence Shankland, and winger Daisuke Yokota is set to undergo surgery for a groin injury.
Rangers are scheduled to face Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final on Sunday, followed by a Premiership visit to Celtic Park a week later.
