The Red Arrows, the RAF's aerobatics team, are expected to return to their base at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire today after being stranded in Canada.
The team had been due to return following a tour of the US, but poor weather predicted for north-eastern Canada led to them being grounded. This delay resulted in the team pulling out of several UK summer events, including those in Lyme Regis and Eastbourne.
The jets, which cannot refuel mid-flight, arrived back in the UK at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland on Sunday after making refuelling stops in Greenland and Iceland. A social media post from the team confirmed their return to the UK and their final flight home to RAF Waddington.
The Red Arrows are due to resume their summer schedule with a display at Cromer Carnival on the Norfolk coast on Wednesday, with other scheduled dates expected to proceed as planned, according to a spokesperson.
