The National Gallery in London is hosting a new exhibition, 'Renoir and Love', which explores the works of Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The exhibition highlights Renoir's focus on enjoying life, from picnics and dances to romantic encounters.
Among the featured paintings is the 1883 canvas 'Dance at Bougival', which depicts a couple dancing outdoors. Another key piece is 'Dance at the Moulin de la Galette', lent by the Musée d’Orsay, which captures people enjoying each other's company in Montmartre.
The exhibition also includes 'After the Luncheon' and 'The Lunch at the Restaurant Fournaise (The Rowers’ Lunch)', which portray relaxed French lunches. While the exhibition primarily showcases Renoir's early work, it also includes 'The Great Bathers', a piece from his later, anti-impressionist period.
