During his time, the club invested over £650 million in new players in little over a year, with Bradley Barcola, Alexander Isak, and Florian Wirtz each costing at least £100 million.
In Hughes' final match, Liverpool made history by fielding three £100 million-plus signings in the same game, though not simultaneously. This included Barcola, a £106 million acquisition for which Hughes is credited with completing the deal.
Hughes was also responsible for the managerial change, initially backing Arne Slot before appointing Andoni Iraola, whom he had previously taken to Bournemouth. Despite winning a Premier League title with Slot, Hughes leaves with the team's rebuilding task unfinished.
