Richarlison netted a dramatic 92nd-minute winner as 10-man Tottenham secured a 2-1 pre-season victory against Chelsea in Sydney. Despite the match-winning performance, Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi indicated that the Brazilian striker's future at the club is still uncertain, even as De Zerbi expressed his desire for Richarlison to remain.
Tottenham took the lead in the 17th minute through new signing Sandro Tonali, who scored his first goal for the club. Chelsea quickly equalised four minutes later with a header from Estêvão Willian. The game saw Kevin Danso of Spurs sent off just minutes after coming on as a half-time substitute.
De Zerbi highlighted Richarlison's importance, stating it would be difficult to find another striker who scored 12 goals last season. Richarlison, who joined Tottenham from Everton in 2022, has less than a year left on his contract.
The friendly, played in front of over 80,000 fans at Accor Stadium, marked the first time these two sides have met outside the UK.
