Gavin and Stacey star Rob Brydon has revealed his regret at turning down an opportunity to interview Dolly Parton. Brydon, who fronted the BBC documentary series Honky Tonk Road Trip, visited Dollywood and was offered the chance to interview Parton if he returned after filming.
He chose to remain on a family holiday in Arizona, an opportunity he now wishes he had taken as he never met her before her death. Parton died peacefully in hospital in Nashville on 25 August after a brief battle with cancer, having been admitted four days prior with kidney and autoimmune issues.
Brydon's debut children's book, 'The Cat in The Cupboard', is set to be published on 10 September. Aimed at children aged five to seven, the rhyming story was inspired by tales he created for his own children about their ginger cat.
During an interview on BBC Radio Wales, Lucy Owen compared Brydon's encouragement of children to read with Parton's Imagination Library scheme, a global initiative that delivers free books to children. Brydon also mentioned his admiration for fellow Gavin and Stacey writers Ruth Jones and James Corden, expressing anticipation for their new comedy project, 'The Choir'.
