Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue each claimed five wickets on the first day of England's Test match against Pakistan at Headingley. Their combined effort led to Pakistan being dismissed for 171 runs.
Robinson initiated the wickets with an lbw on the first ball of the morning, while Tongue completed the lower order, finishing with figures of five for 46. Following their performance, the two pace bowlers decided to cut the match ball in half as a shared souvenir.
England, under returning captain Joe Root, concluded the day at 112 for two, with Root scoring an unbeaten 37. This left them trailing Pakistan by 59 runs.
Robinson, who previously took seven wickets against New Zealand, expressed frustration over missing recent matches due to a training injury and non-selection. He stated he has been working closely with the England medical team to improve his fitness and secure his place in the team.
