Robinson and Tongue take five wickets each as England dominate Pakistan

Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue each secured five wickets, providing Joe Root with a strong start to his second tenure as England captain. Pakistan were bowled out for 171 on the opening day of the series at Headingley.

Robinson, with figures of 5-51, set the tone by dismissing Azan Awais leg before with the first ball of the match. Tongue, who took 5-46, contributed to Pakistan losing their last five wickets for 21 runs.

Abdullah Shafique was Pakistan's top scorer with 61, supported by Imam-ul-Haq's 42. England, in reply, reached 112-2 by the close of play, with Root unbeaten on 37 and Jordan Cox on 23. They are currently 59 runs behind Pakistan.
