The Reverend David Croucher, known as the 'Rockin' Rev', has been announced as the new deacon of St Felix Catholic Church in Felixstowe, Suffolk. He and his wife, Chris, moved to the area in July.
Reverend Croucher, who was born in South Wales, began playing guitar in the 1960s after being inspired by The Shadows. He has played at care homes, monthly folk masses, and had a regular slot at a local pub, and was part of The Windfalls in Ipswich in the 1990s.
He was ordained at Portsmouth Cathedral in 2004, having had a calling to the church at the age of 45 while living on the Isle of Wight.
