Romeo Beckham, the 23-year-old son of football icon David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham, is embarking on a new career path, making his acting debut in a French film titled 'Forty Love'. The movie, directed by acclaimed fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti, will see Beckham feature alongside established actors such as Paul Kircher, Guillaume Canet, and Benjamin Voisin.

The narrative of 'Forty Love' centres on Sacha Gallo, portrayed by Kircher, a talented tennis prodigy striving for Grand Slam success in Paris under the guidance of his father and coach. However, the arrival of a compelling new challenger, played by Beckham, introduces a different kind of obstacle. This new opponent not only threatens Sacha's aspirations for a championship but also challenges his fundamental sense of self. The film's synopsis hints at a deeper struggle, stating that Sacha will "for the first time, face an opponent of an entirely different nature — love." This force is depicted as both exhilarating and destabilising, and ultimately more perilous than any challenge encountered on the tennis court.

Producer Hugo Selignac has lauded Carlotti's distinct visual style, noting the "rare tenderness, melancholy and strength" in his imagery, which made his transition into directing a natural progression. Selignac described 'Forty Love' as a "sensual, romantic and deeply moving romantic fable and coming-of-age story." The film is expected to delve into the rigorous demands of high-level sport and the complex emotions that often lie beneath the surface, all brought to life by what are anticipated to be outstanding performances.

Beckham's career trajectory has been varied prior to this acting venture. He has previously explored both football and tennis, even training with British tennis star Andy Murray in the late 2010s. His football pursuits included spells with USL League One club Fort Lauderdale CF, which later became Inter Miami II, and Brentford F.C. Reserves. However, in 2024, Beckham reportedly stepped away from football to focus on a career in fashion, where he has worked as a model and brand ambassador for luxury brands such as Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga.

The news of his acting debut comes shortly after Beckham was in the headlines last week for a motoring offence. He received a £440 fine and three penalty points on his licence for using his mobile phone while driving his Porsche 911 in Westminster, with an unrestrained dog also present in the vehicle. The film 'Forty Love' is currently in post-production and, according to IMDb, is slated for release on 25th November.
