Royal Navy Serviceman Charged Under National Security Act

A Royal Navy serviceman has been charged under the National Security Act with offences including obtaining information to benefit a foreign power.

  • Teddy Young, 24, was arrested in Bedfordshire on 6 October.

  • Counter Terrorism Policing London (CTPL) led the investigation.

A member of the Royal Navy, Teddy Young, 24, has been charged under the National Security Act. The charges include obtaining information to benefit a foreign power.

Mr Young was arrested at his home in Bedfordshire on 6 October following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing London (CTPL). The alleged offences are said to have taken place between 26 November 2024 and 21 May last year.

Commander Helen Flanagan, head of CTPL, stated that these are "very serious charges against a serving member of the armed forces." She added that CTPL has collaborated with the Ministry of Defence to address potential risks. The arrest and charges are not linked to a recent investigation at RAF Fairford.
