A woman who alleges Russell Brand raped her in a hotel has told police she was left feeling "dirty" and afraid she might be pregnant following the alleged attack. Mr Brand, 51, faces seven charges, including three counts of rape, three charges of sexual assault, and one of indecent assault.

The allegations, made by six female complainants, cover a 10-year period from 1999 to 2009. Mr Brand denies the charges.

Video evidence presented to the jury on Thursday showed one complainant stating to police, "He raped me basically and I know that happened." The jury heard this accuser met Mr Brand in 1999, before he became widely known, and reported the alleged crime in a police interview recorded in 2023.

She alleged that after attending a Labour Party conference fringe event, she and Mr Brand went back to a hotel room where the alleged rape occurred. She recalled thinking "what on earth have I got into" when, she claims, a shirtless Mr Brand made her take photos of him before the alleged attack.

The woman said that after Mr Brand left the room, she was "just sitting there crying and I felt stupid." She added that she was "having nightmares" about the possibility of being pregnant and delayed coming forward due to concerns about her professional life.

Mr Brand has pleaded not guilty to all charges and maintains that any sexual contact, if it occurred, was consensual. The trial is ongoing and is expected to last for six weeks.
