American pop star Sabrina Carpenter is set to appear alongside Tom Holland in a forthcoming biographical film about legendary American dancer Fred Astaire. Carpenter, 27, will portray Hollywood star Ginger Rogers opposite Holland as Astaire in the untitled feature, according to reports.
Rogers, who won a best actress Academy Award in 1941, collaborated with Astaire across a string of popular 1930s and 1940s song-and-dance films. The duo became celebrated for their dynamic on-screen partnership.
Margaret Qualley, 31, has been cast as Adele Astaire, who performed alongside her brother across Broadway and the West End throughout the 1920s. The film is directed by Paul King, known for Paddington and Wonka, and is adapted from Kathleen Riley’s book The Astaires: Fred And Adele.
This project marks Carpenter’s first lead movie role since the release of her single "Espresso" in 2024. She recently collected her first Emmy award after appearing in a special episode of The Muppet Show on Disney+.
