Sam Curran requires groin surgery, ruling him out of English season

England all-rounder Sam Curran has been ruled out of the remainder of the English season after further assessment revealed he requires surgery for a groin issue. The 28-year-old Surrey player will have an operation on Friday.

The surgery ends Curran's hopes of a potential Test comeback this summer. Selector Marcus North had suggested Curran could have been considered for the ongoing first Test against Pakistan and for the third Test on 9 September.

Curran will miss England's white-ball matches against Sri Lanka in September, as well as the rest of Surrey's season. He had previously withdrawn from this year's Indian Premier League in March due to a groin issue.
