Beyond this introductory period, and for all other purchases from the outset, a 0.25% cashback rate will be applied indefinitely. This new offering aims to appeal to a broad range of UK consumers looking to maximise returns on their daily spending.

Key benefits of the new Santander Rewards Credit Card include the absence of an annual fee, a notable advantage compared to some other reward cards on the market. Furthermore, there is no monthly cap on the amount of cashback a cardholder can earn, allowing high spenders to accumulate substantial rewards. The card also facilitates fee-free spending when used abroad in the local currency, making it a potentially attractive option for international travellers. For instance, a customer spending £250 monthly on qualifying purchases could earn £7.50 in cashback each month, totalling £90 over the initial year.

However, prospective cardholders should be aware of certain stipulations regarding the 3% cashback rate. The eligibility for higher cashback is determined by how retailers are categorised by card networks using merchant category codes (MCCs). To be eligible for the Santander Rewards Credit Card, applicants must be at least 18 years old, permanently reside in the UK, and have an annual income of at least £10,500. There are also credit history requirements, including not having been declared bankrupt, or having had a County Court Judgment (CCJ) or Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) within the last six years.
