Saracens wing Noah Caluori played through a debilitating wrist injury for much of last season, which saw him become joint top try-scorer in his first Prem season and earn his first two England caps. The 19-year-old sustained the injury in December, ripping two ligaments off the bone in his right hand.
Caluori opted to play through the pain barrier after discussing his chances of making England’s squad for July’s Nations Championship fixtures. He has since undergone surgery and will miss the start of the new season, but expects to find form before England's four November Tests at Twickenham.
He stated that during the Six Nations, a scan showed he needed surgery, but he chose to continue playing. Caluori described the surgery as involving taking a strip off his tendon, drilling a hole through his scaphoid, and reconnecting it.
Caluori will make his comeback under the new stewardship of Brendan Venter, who has returned to Saracens after Mark McCall's 15-year tenure ended.
