The search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of TV host Savannah Guthrie, is approaching the 48-hour mark after she was reported missing on Sunday. Investigators believe Ms Guthrie was abducted from her Tucson home in the early hours of Sunday, leaving behind her cell phone and car.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated on Monday, "I believe she was abducted, yes." He added that she did not leave willingly. Ms Guthrie has limited mobility and requires daily medication.
Savannah Guthrie, who has been absent from her NBC morning show, issued a plea for prayers and community help via an Instagram post on Monday night. She also released a statement thanking people for their support, saying, "Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom."
Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
