Scotland have clinched a spot at next year's World Cup Qualifier after a narrow nine-run victory over Canada in a tense ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series match held in Forfarshire. The hosts posted a total of 281-7 from their 50 overs at Forthill.

Fin McCreath was the star with the bat for Scotland, hitting 112 runs for his first international century. Canada, despite a strong start that saw them reach 50 inside eight overs with Yuvraj Sumra scoring 78, ultimately fell short. A late partnership of 84 between Ansh Patel and captain Saad Bin Zafar brought them close, but George Munsey's catch sealed Scotland's win with four balls remaining.

This win ensures Scotland's progression to the Qualifier, as Canada can no longer overtake them in the League 2 standings. The match was the first in the tri-series, which also includes the United Arab Emirates, to avoid being washed out by wet weather.
