Scotland's Sandy Scott has secured promotion to the main PGA Tour for the first time, overcoming a career-threatening wrist injury to win the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship in Columbus, Ohio.
The 28-year-old's one-stroke victory on Sunday marked his first win on the Korn Ferry Tour, propelling him to second place on the development tour's points list. Scott, a native of Inverness, had previously undergone two surgeries in 2019 for torn ligaments in his right wrist, an injury that caused him to question if he would ever play golf again.
Despite a recurrence of the wrist issue this season, leading to a two-month absence, Scott battled back. He closed the latest event with a six-under 65, finishing at 18-under 266, a new 72-hole tournament record, to edge out American John Marshall Butler.
Scott is the seventh player and the first European to qualify for the main tour during the 2027 season. He will return to a PGA Tour event next year for the first time since the 2020 US Open.
