Scott Coker, the former president of Bellator, has announced the launch of his new mixed martial arts promotion, Ki MMA. The venture is supported by $60m (£44.7m) in funding.
Ki MMA is scheduled to hold its first event in 2027. Coker stated that he sees this as an opportune moment to re-enter the MMA landscape, citing "unfinished business" and a perceived "funk" in martial arts.
The promotion intends to feature a 32-fighter featherweight tournament, with events planned across North America, Europe, Asia, and South America. Ki MMA also aims to include super fights involving established MMA names, with Coker looking to sign free agents in the coming months.
Coker, 63, has a history in MMA, having been instrumental in the rise of the former Strikeforce promotion. He stated that Ki MMA will prioritise fighters and treat them with respect.
