Napoli and Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay has successfully undergone corrective surgery for a minor heart issue. The 29-year-old was diagnosed with a mild benign arrhythmia, an irregular heart rhythm considered non-serious.

The operation, an ablation procedure, took place at Spire Manchester Hospital on Tuesday morning. Napoli confirmed the procedure was a complete success, stating that McTominay will rest for two weeks before resuming training.

This recovery period means McTominay will miss Napoli's Champions League match against Arsenal, as well as Serie A fixtures against Bologna and Fiorentina. He will also be unavailable for Scotland's Nations League games against Slovenia, Switzerland, and North Macedonia.

If there are no setbacks, McTominay could be available for Napoli's match against Frosinone on 10 October, following the international break.
