A major search has been launched for a passenger reported missing from the Ambassador Ambition cruise ship, which arrived in Dundee today. Lifeboats and coastguard crews are involved in the search for the man, who is feared to have fallen overboard before the ship docked.

The alarm was raised onboard the vessel at approximately 08:35 on Friday, when the ship was about 36 nautical miles from Arbroath. Passengers were initially delayed from disembarking but were later permitted to leave the ship around 11:30.

It is understood that the missing passenger's luggage remained onboard and their bed had not been slept in. Police Scotland confirmed that the man's next of kin have been made aware, and inquiries are ongoing.

Coastguard aircraft from Prestwick and Carlisle, along with a commercial search and rescue helicopter, are assisting in the operation. Lifeboat crews from Anstruther and Broughty Ferry, and Coastguard rescue teams from Dundee, Arbroath, and St Andrews are also involved, supported by nearby vessels.
