Actress Selma Blair has pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault following an incident on a flight from Los Angeles to New York on Sunday. She was accused of hurting two flight attendants, and after being detained at the airport, allegedly kicked a police officer and a nurse.
Blair, 54, entered her plea on Monday night for the state charges involving the officer and nurse. She also faces separate federal charges of assaults within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.
A representative for Blair stated that she experienced a medical emergency on the flight and did not intend to harm anyone. The spokesperson also noted that Blair has multiple sclerosis, diagnosed in 2018, and pseudobulbar affect, a neurological condition secondary to her MS.
Reports from TMZ indicated that Blair allegedly punched one flight attendant and bit another, with dispatch audio revealing injuries including a bloody nose and bite marks. One flight attendant was reportedly taken to hospital. Sources told the New York Post that Blair was taken to a nearby hospital after the plane landed.
