  • Cas heard arguments on Thursday, 8 October 2026, and expects to deliver a decision in a few days.
  • Senegal had initially won the final 1-0 against Morocco, but Caf's Appeal Board later ruled they forfeited the match.

Senegal is expected to receive the verdict on its appeal against being stripped of the Africa Cup of Nations title within days, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) has stated. Cas heard arguments on Thursday, 8 October 2026, regarding the dispute.

Senegal is challenging the Confederation of African Football's (Caf) decision to declare Morocco champions. Senegal had defeated Morocco 1-0 in extra time in the January final in Rabat.

The title was stripped two months later after Caf's Appeal Board ruled that Senegal had forfeited the match. This decision followed Senegal players walking off the pitch for 14 minutes after a penalty was awarded against them late in regulation time.

Cas director general Matthieu Reeb stated that the decision is expected "not today, not tomorrow, but a few days later." Senegal general secretary Abdoulaye Sow expressed confidence outside the closed-door hearing.
