Several athletes are currently "unaccounted for" following the conclusion of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Police Scotland has stated. This development comes after four members of Uganda’s boxing team reportedly went missing in Scotland, according to the Ugandan sporting news website NBS Sport.
These athletes did not rejoin their delegation ahead of the team’s scheduled return to Uganda on Tuesday. A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that reports of several unaccounted athletes have been received, with inquiries ongoing to assess the circumstances. Early engagement is also taking place with the Home Office.
Commonwealth Games chief executive Phil Batty, speaking to the Press Association on Monday, noted that nearly 3,000 athletes from 74 nations were welcomed to the city. He emphasised the desire to deliver a safe and secure games, working closely with Police Scotland, the Border Force, and UK visas and immigration to ensure arrivals and departures align with regulations.
