Heavy rain and 50mph winds are set to batter Dumfries and Galloway over the next 48 hours after the Met Office issued a severe weather warning for the region.
Newton Stewart faces the brunt of the conditions, with temperatures reaching just 10°C as torrential downpours sweep across the area. The Met Office has warned the deluge could trigger flooding in vulnerable spots.
The severe weather extends far beyond Scotland's south-west, with warnings covering England's north-west, north-east, and Yorkshire and the Humber regions. Scotland's Highlands and Grampian areas will also bear the brunt of hazardous conditions that could prove treacherous for motorists.
Wales faces a yellow weather warning across the entire country for the next 24 hours, whilst Northern Ireland is under similar alert as the storm system tracks across the British Isles.
Residents across affected areas are urged to check the Met Office website for updated forecasts and take appropriate safety measures as the severe weather approaches.
