Heavy rain and winds gusting up to 60mph will batter Peterborough over the next two days, prompting the Met Office to issue a severe weather warning for the city and surrounding areas.
The warning runs from 10am Wednesday to 10am Thursday, with meteorologists predicting over 20mm of rainfall in some areas. Residents face potential flooding and power cuts as the weather system moves through the region.
The Met Office has warned of significant disruption to transport and electricity supplies. Gusts could reach 60mph, with even stronger winds possible in exposed areas.
Yellow weather warnings are also active across parts of England, Scotland and Wales, whilst Northern Ireland has a status yellow warning covering the entire country.
Residents are urged to avoid non-essential travel and monitor weather forecasts closely. The Met Office recommends keeping emergency kits ready for potential power outages, unplugging electronics and avoiding electrical appliances during blackouts.
Temperatures will remain mild despite the stormy conditions, with Wednesday's high reaching 10C before dropping to 5C by Thursday morning.
