EastEnders actor Shane Richie has denied a charge of drink-driving and will face trial in November 2027. The 62-year-old, known for playing Alfie Moon, appeared via video-link at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday under his real name, Shane Roche.
Mr Richie is accused of driving a white Hyundai car in Church Langley Way, Harlow, Essex, on 29 July while over the legal alcohol limit. He is alleged to have provided a breath sample of 65 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35 micrograms.
Prosecutor Vladimir Silea stated that police attended a Tesco petrol station in Church Langley Way at 11.15pm on 29 July, where Mr Richie was arrested and taken to Harlow police station. Officers commenced the drink and drug driving procedure, with the lower reading provided being 65 micrograms of alcohol.
Deputy District Judge Christopher Maynard granted Mr Richie bail until 17 November 2027, when he is scheduled to stand trial at the same court.
