Shaun Edwards has joined the Red Roses coaching staff on a short-term consultancy deal, marking his return to English rugby. The 59-year-old, known as a highly-regarded defence coach, will travel with the world champions for their three-Test tour of North America next month as part of their WXV Global Series itinerary.
Edwards recently departed France, where he helped Fabien Galthie's side secure another men's Six Nations title. This adds to his seven Six Nations titles as a coach with Wales and France.
John Mitchell, the Red Roses coach, expressed his respect for Edwards' achievements and looks forward to working with him. Edwards has met with the squad this week as they prepare for a match against New Zealand at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, following a recent draw with Canada that ended their 39-match winning streak.
After facing the Black Ferns, England will play two more Tests against Canada before concluding their international year against the United States in New Jersey on 30 October.
