Wrexham AFC's owners, Ryan Reynolds, Rob Mac, and Apollo Sports Capital, have purchased The Turf pub, a move that expands the club's footprint. The pub, which overlooks the Championship football ground, has been added to a portfolio that already includes Wrexham AFC and its home, the Racecourse Ground.
The acquisition follows weeks after the local council reportedly told the club to "get their act in order" regarding a training base built without planning permission. An application was lodged after work had commenced last month.
Eric Allyn, representing minority investors the Allyn family, stated that bringing The Turf into the group secures the pub's long-term future and preserves its history, along with that of the club. The current landlord, Wayne Jones, will continue in his role.
Wrexham AFC, purchased by Reynolds and Mac in 2021, has seen a rapid ascent to the second tier of English football. The Hollywood duo later acquired the Racecourse Ground freehold and received government grants for a regeneration project. In December 2025, the club sold a minority stake to Apollo Sports Capital at a £350m valuation.
The club's ground is currently undergoing regeneration, with the Kop Stand being rebuilt to accommodate more supporters. Wrexham is currently 14th in the Championship, having secured two wins from their opening eight games against Southampton and Millwall.
