Sir Anthony Hopkins has reached the top of the official UK Classical Chart with his new album, 'Life is a Dream'. The Decca Classics record, released last week, realises the Welsh actor's lifelong passion for classical music.
The album features music composed by Hopkins across the decades, inspired by his childhood memories in Wales, family, and admired composers. He stated, "Music was my first desire, my first wish. I’ve been composing music all my life. Some of these pieces have lived with me for decades and I still find myself returning to them."
Performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, the album has been praised by Laura Monks, president of Decca, who congratulated Sir Anthony on this recognition of his talent as a composer. A share of sales from the CD and vinyl versions of 'Life is a Dream' will be donated to the United Nations Development Fund to support the people of Venezuela following a series of earthquakes.
