A recent letter to The Guardian has shed light on Sir Garry Sobers' appearances for Norton Cricket Club in the North Staffordshire and South Cheshire league. The legendary cricketer played for the club in 1964, 1965, and 1967.
Sobers had toured England with the West Indies in 1963 and 1966. His brother, Gerry, also kept wicket for Norton during this period, with other notable visitors to the league including fast bowler Wes Hall at Great Chell.
